How Do Conflict and Innovation Support One Another?

Innovation, or entreprenuerism, is driven from the Fundamental Force of Respect. In order to have an entreprenuerial spirit or innovate, one must see again, or look back at a situation to determine how something could be done better, or completely differently.

When multiple people Respect situations, they'll likely see them from different angles. They'll have different experiences or even different experiences of the same experience. This could, at the most base of definitions, create conflict. However, conflict, engaged constructively, can further the quest of innovation like nothing else.

In the video below, I facilitated a discussion with John Banovetz, CTO of 3M and John Mulligan, COO of Target. John Banovetz talks about 3M's 15% culture and conflict. This culture has created so many products that are central to all of our lives. And, they have come from an idea, conflict and people using conflict from Respecting.
